Numaru's First Korean Food Cooking Class: Kimchi Bokkeumbap
Last week, Numaru hosted its very first cooking class, and we couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out!
On the menu? Avocado tuna kimchi fried rice – a fun twist on one of our most popular dishes. We took the classic flavours of Bokkeumbap (Korean kimchi fried rice) and made them even better with tuna, scrambled eggs and avocado. Participants got to chop ingredients, fry up the rice and enjoy the process of cooking together. The recipe was easy to follow, even for beginners, so the class was both fun and rewarding!

Why Do Koreans Love Kimchi Fried Rice?
Bokkeumbap is a beloved dish in Korea, known for being quick and simple to make, yet packed with flavour. It can be made with just kimchi and rice, and is a go-to comfort meal for many Koreans. Beyond that, it’s a dish full of nostalgia! Whether it’s from childhood or shared with friends, kimchi fried rice always brings back good memories. It was truly special to share this experience with our class and bring people together over a dish that means so much to Korean culture!
And the Winner Is…
To make things even more exciting, we picked the best Bokkeumbap at the end of the class. Everyone did an amazing job, so it was tough to choose just one winner. But after much deliberation, our chef picked a standout dish. The winner will be back for a final cook-off at the end of the year. Can’t wait!

What’s Next?
Numaru isn’t just about serving great food. Our goal is to create opportunities to experience and learn about Korean cuisine firsthand. This was just the beginning, and we’re already planning more events to bring people closer to the heart of Korean cooking.

Which delicious dish will we make next? Stay tuned!
